ISO 14001 Has Been Updated – Are You Ready to Transition?
The revised ISO 14001:2026 standard was published in April 2026, replacing ISO 14001:2015. Organisations currently certified to the 2015 edition have a three-year transition period, meaning all certifications must be migrated to the new standard by April 2029 to remain valid.
Although the changes are evolutionary rather than revolutionary, the updated standard places greater emphasis on areas such as climate change, biodiversity, resource efficiency, life-cycle thinking, and environmental performance. Organisations will need to review their Environmental Management System (EMS), update documentation where necessary, and demonstrate that these new requirements have been effectively integrated into their existing management system.
At Asgard Management Solutions, we can help you make the transition smoothly and efficiently. Whether we originally implemented your ISO 14001 system or you are working with an existing EMS, we provide a structured gap analysis, update your documentation and processes, deliver any necessary training, and prepare your organisation for a successful transition audit. By starting early, you can spread the work over your normal surveillance audit cycle, avoid a last-minute rush, and ensure your certification remains uninterrupted.
