Risk Assessment Training

What is a risk assessment?
A risk assessment is a written document that records a three-step process:
  • Identifying the hazards in the workplace(s) under your control.
  • Assessing the risks presented by these hazards.
  • Putting control measures in place to reduce the risk of these hazards causing harm.
Why do you need training?
Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 an employer is required to carry out risk assessments, prepare a safety statement and implement what it contains. Outside of the legal requirement, employers have a moral duty to ensure that their employees and other persons potentially impacted by their activities remain safe. In order to ensure this, risk assessments must be undertaken for all activities and adequate and effective controls put in place to minimise the associated risk.
